Watch: Russian earthquake triggers volcanic eruption

A powerful 7.0 magnitude earthquake early on Sunday morning has triggered a volcanic eruption in the Kamchatka peninsula.

The area surrounding the Shiveluch volcano, on the far-eastern coast of Russia, was covered in a layer of ash following the eruption.

There were no reports of damage or injuries in the immediate aftermath of the quake.

Monday's full supermoon - also a blue moon - turned red in a dramatic way on Sunday night.

The glowing sphere has been seen across the UK but there is still a chance to catch a glimpse in the coming days.

In pictures: Blue supermoon glows red

Red - not blue - full supermoon

Despite being called a blue moon, the moon doesn't actually turn blue.

But, it did turn red on Sunday night because of North American wildfire smoke sitting in the atmosphere above the UK.

Smoke particles mean that light passing through the atmosphere is scattered in such a way that the orange and red colours of the spectrum are more visible than usual.

The smoke also meant skies were hazy and had an orange tinge over the weekend with an impressive sunset on Sunday night.

Smoke particles will start to clear on Monday as cloud and rain moves in from the west.

Great Earthquakes--What Did the Bible Say?

Subject yourselves to every human creation.—1 Pet. 2:13.

God’s organization gives us direction to keep us safe. We are regularly reminded to give the elders our current contact information so that they can reach us during an emergency. We may also receive direction about sheltering in place, evacuation, and obtaining relief supplies or about how and when to assist others. If we fail to obey, we could put in jeopardy our life and the lives of the elders who are keeping watch over us. (Heb. 13:17) Many brothers and sisters who were displaced by a disaster or civil unrest have done their best to adapt to their new situation and become involved right away in theocratic activities. Like the early Christians who were scattered by persecution, they continue “declaring the good news of the word.” (Acts 8:4) Preaching helps them to focus on the Kingdom rather than on difficult circumstances. As a result, they have maintained their joy and peace.
